Rick Deuell (RICKYD3545@aol.com) reports:Located in the Northwest Lower Peninsula of Michigan
The brew-pub has a relaxing atmosphere, laid back, just like the ales they sell. Here are some excerpts from a BRBC brochure.
Our ales are created from a single infusion, full mash process. We use the finest English two row malt, domestic hops, top fermenting ale yeast and good ole Boyne City water.
This combination results in ales which are full in flavor, body and character. With Boyne River LAID BACK ALES has traditional characteristics quite different from domestic lager beer.
All of our ales are unfiltered. We rely upon natural sedimentation which produces a slightly cloudy ale. We prefer to leave all the taste in our LAID BACK ALES instead of in a pile of diatomaceous earth.
We serve our ales at "cellar" temperature. Our ales are full of complex flavors which are best tasted at 45_ F to 55_ F. The temperature of our 10:30 Ale is now closer to temperature of domestic ales.
Carbonation levels are much lower in Boyne River LAID BACK ALES. We prefer to keep carbonation levels much closer to natural levels to allow you the experience of all the complex flavors without carbon dioxide overpowering your taste buds.
Five ales on tap, three house regulars (below) plus two seasonal/specialty ales, like pumpkin ale and Lake trout stout (my favorite).
10:30 Ale - mild, light colored ale.
Pale Ale - Deep amber in color and loaded with hops.
Brown Ale - This dark ale has a chocolate taste which contrasts nicely with the Chinook bittering hops.
There are basic food fares, with some vegetarian goodies.
Tasty in house brewed root beer called Hannah's Rootbeer. Best of all, it is a
Smoke Free Environment.

Chris Cooper(ccooper@a2607.cc.msr.hp.com) reports: This place opened over the 95 Memorial day weekend and has been going
strong ever since. The brewery is apparently a well funded venture
and features an excellent restaurant (steaks, chops, burgers from a large
indoor flamed grill) and a large "bar" area arranged around the
glassed-in brewery area (the bar has a beautifully carved railing
and peanuts on every table end up on the floor creating a very relaxed
mood). The building is cavernous and rustic but very modern in it's
features.
The beer (they had 7 varieties on tap when I was there) ranged from
good to excellent , the darker the beer the better!! IMHO.
While waiting to be seated (7:30 on a Wednesday night the wait was 45 min.)
I asked the hostess some questions about the operation and mentioned
I was a home brewer, Bingo that was the magic ticket, she brought the
night manager over and introduced us. Paul (the night manager) spent
about 20 minutes giving me and my family a complete VIP tour of the
facility and showed us every nook and crany of the place, he said
they liked to go out of their way for home brewers and made our
experience one my whole family will remember.
Mitch Stuck (34ygdae@cmich.edu) reports: They sunk alot of money into this one.
It's a brewery/sports bar/restarant. I had a bock (it's okay),
a stout (excellent! I talked to the brewmaster, Scott Graham for
15 minutes about this one), a wheat (not a traditional wheat, it was alright),
and their Big Buck golden, which is also bottled. I really enjoyed the golden and
the stout
