new and award winning IPA.
It's one of the coolest scenes left in New York. Snuggled in Williamsburg surrounded by artists from all over the

You can bring in food from the outside, and you can borrow Monopoly or checkers by leaving ID to play games and quaf.

skitch1@aol.com reports: The Hyde Park Brewing Co. has a nice brew pub
on Rte. 9 just north of Poughkeepsie NY. The
menu looks pretty well rounded ranging from fine
barfood, wings, soups, pizzas to more substantial
fair as burgers and club sandwiches.
For starters I reccomend the Sampler tray of beers.
All ales. British golden Mild was almost dry yet smooth
and nicely hopped.
The American Red Ale was sweet, hoppy and had a pleasant
long finish.
The Stout was a little thin but still chocolatey
with a nice roasted grain nose. Not too dry.
The Brewers choice that day was a Dunkel Wiess that
had hints of clove and cinnamon but an edgey finish.
Very interesting and refreshing.
The best was the Porter, which the owner let us preview.
It was very roasted in nature, dark ruby in color and very
full bodied. A must for dark ale drinkers.
They also had Ruffian Rasberry Wheat and Redhook Rye on tap.
Overall good beers but the porter was great!

- Chuck Sheldon, (skitime3@cs.com) reports:After a long
day of sightseeing in the NY city area, this is really a great place to unwind. Located in Time
Square, is is on the second floor overlooking the square itself. The wall facing the square is
made of solid glass so all of the goings on at street level can be seen from vertually every table.
The food acually comes in large portions. We had the New York Burger and it took up the whole plate!
The micro's themselves were also very tasty with eight beers on tap at the time. After the tasters,
we ended up having a couple of pints of the Pale Ale..(not to be missed)The interesting part of the
brewery was the brew vats were actually elevated above your head off to the side on the third floor
visible while dining.Rating 1-10 (8)

- Brian Baker (brbaker@gw.dec.state.ny.us) reports:They had seven draft beers available for tasting and growler filling
in their tap room, as well as their usual bottled offerings.
The tastings were well done as well as generous, with the beers leaning toward
English and Scottish ales. Not a bad brew in the bunch. The
Scottish ales (Kilt Tilter, at 8%ABV, and Highlander) were highlights,
as was the new IPA (all Cascade, nice balance). Marc Rubenstein,
the owner & brewmaster, gives an excellent, informative tour, and
really explains the brewing process well without a lot of sales/PR BS.
Their beers are also available (some cask conditioned) at the Blue Tusk tavern in
Armory Square. Highly recommended.
