Gregg (greggw@brewingnews.com) reports: Old Dominion
consistently brews some of the best beers on the east coast, and once you find it at the back of
the industrial park near Dulles Airport where the brewery and this connected brewpub is located you
can try just about all of them, including those beers Old Dominion contract brews for other people.
There are usually more than 20 different Dominion beers on tap, including cask-conditioned and small
batch versions (Tupper's Hop Pocket Ale aged in an oak bourbon barrel, anyone?) only available
there.

- Jeff Greer, (jeff.greer@lexis-nexis.com) reports:
They offer only their own seasonal beers (some half dozen), which are very good.
I think the hefeweizen is excellent on our frequent hot, summer muggy evenings, and their
weizenbock in the winter is to die for. The food is described in a local dining guide as
"Asian-Caribbean fusion," and it is quite good. Very long, copper-topped bar. Fireplace
adds to the ambiance in winter months. Good view of brewing tanks behind bar. Table
seating also available. Occasional live music.

- Chuck Sheldon, (skitime3@comcast.net) reports: With a view of the
James River rolling through the downtown area of Richmond, Legends Brewery has an atmosphere all it's own. A casual
pull up a chair type feel, this establishment is ranked #1 up and down the east coat for its diverse selection of
finely crafted micro?s. Rated the 'best hometown brew' in Richmond, their beers include: Legend lager, using 10%
2-row malted barley gives this a malty aroma. The Legend pilsner emphasizes assertive hopping with Hallertau,
Tettnang, and Czech Saaz. The Legend Brown Ale is their most popular (and mine too), with caramel and roasted
malts and hopped for balance with Tettnang and Mt. Hood. 6% ABV. The legend Porter, is their darkest beer,
(and Wendy's pick of the day), is rich and roasty, loaded with chocolate and coffee flavors. This sweet black
ale is a thirst quencher after white-water rafting down the James River on a hot summer day!! The food
selection is your common pub fare, but well prepared and delicious!! We hope to return?!

- Amy Clarke (atclarke@erols.com) reports:
is worth the trip -- Tom has his four house brews (brown ale,
porter, lager, and pilsner), and several specialties running at any given
time. In the summertime, you can watch the James River from the deck, and
there's irish folk music every sunday (improptu -- the players change all
the time). It's my favorite bar. The brew is the best in town.

- Tom Glaab(tglaab@clutter.com) reports: It's located in the Shockoe Slip part
of Richmond in one of the ubitiquous old buildings. Beer is pretty good, and the food
makes it a good place for lunch. There are about four regular brews,
with one or two seasonals on tap.
- The brewery used to be one of the typical regional pre-prohibition
brands, and many of the original bottles and cans are still decorating
the building.
